Hi there! We’re thrilled you want to be a part of Concrete Journal. However we have a few nitty-gritty guidelines we need you to look at first before going ahead with your emailing rampage. Nevertheless, we’re excited to see what you have for us.
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY. ANY SUBMISSIONS THAT DO NOT FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
WE ARE NOW ACCEPTING ONLINE EDITORIAL SUBMISSIONS.
Concrete Journal is generally open themed, however keep in mind we have a certain aesthetic we favour. Have a look at our Instagram @concrete_journal and give us a follow to gauge what style we like. We accept anything from photographs, fashion editorials, illustrations, graphic design and short stories. Keywords: timeless, high fashion, quirky & conceptual.
All submissions MUST be unpublished, unless otherwise instructed. We will not consider new work if it has been shown in any other publication, in print or online or on any social media platform. So no #sneakpeeks until the issue is out.
We will do our best to reply to emails, however due to the huge amount of emails we receive everyday, we will only focus on responding to successful submissions. If you do not hear back from us two weeks after you’ve submitted, assume that your submission was unsuccessful, but please don’t let that deter you from submitting at a later date. We choose projects according to the overall aesthetic flow of our editorials.
Issue Zero of Concrete Journal will be released later this year.
We have limited available spots for submissions, however, check in on this page for submissions deadlines.
Please submit low res files for consideration, no more than 10 files total in a single pdf. If your work is accepted we will give you instructions on how to send the high res files. Please do not send us high res files until you have been accepted and instructed to do so. Submitting your work for consideration does not guarantee that your work will be accepted.
In fashion editorial submissions, there must be at least four outfit changes. It is important to include ALL team credits spelled correctly and a visual outfit guide in a word document e.g. 1st photo (accompanied with a thumbnail) Shirt: Acne Studios, Pants: Dion Lee, Shoes: Saint Laurent, Necklace & cuff: Balmain etc.
Images must be clear of text or graphics unless otherwise specified.
By submitting your work to Concrete Journal, you agree to allow Concrete Journal to print your work in the magazine and for us to use your work to promote the magazine on social media and online. The copyright will always be yours, we will never sell or distribute your work, it is important that the artists integrity and rights are retained.
Model release forms and photographers permission to submit (unless the photographer is submitting) is required with every accepted editorial. All accepted files, after instruction, must be submitted high res, 300dpi in CMYK.
All submissions for print consideration, please send to: email@example.com
With the subject line ‘Print Submission Issue Zero – Your Name‘
We accept online editorials all year round, so if you would like to be considered for Concrete Journal online, please send a low res, single pdf to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Same instructions as printing submissions, but with the email subject line ‘Web-editorial Submission – Your Name‘
Web editorials are posted regularly and we seek varied content ranging from fashion, events, press releases, photographs, illustrations etc. Once again due to the huge amount of emails we receive every day we will try our best to respond to emails, but will mainly only respond to successful submissions.
If you have any general enquiries, please email: email@example.com
Look forward to seeing what you folks create!
